Altered ways of operations post covid-19 unlocking: A cost optimization opportunity?

  The year 2020 has been recorded as a dark year in the global history, with covid-19 pandemic severely affecting the countries across globe. India was an early mover to prevent the potential spread of the virus, and imposed a nationwide lockdown in March 2020. Though the lockdown was instrumental in preventing the human lives loss, it had adverse implications for the domestic economy of the country. The period of lockdown was characterized by losses of informal jobs, reverse migration, a serious hit to the services industry and overall demand and supply shocks. After a stringent phase of lockdown and curtailed economic activities from March 24, 2020, the process of unlocking began in phased manner from May 2020. All States/UTs adopted their individual procedures for opening up. Though sanitizing, checking temperature and social distancing have become a norm at the public places now, the process of unlocking saw a drastic change in the ways things are operated now.
